WASHINGTON — The Trump administration on Monday announced the distribution of the first payments from a new $50 billion rural health fund — but not all states are getting equal payouts.
The administration is giving larger awards to more rural states, as well as those that made big promises to transform rural health systems and pledged to back policies aligned with the Make America Healthy Again Movement, Mehmet Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, told reporters.
Texas, Alaska, and California will receive the largest distributions, each more than $230 million. Other states will receive less: New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Connecticut will each receive around $150 million.
